Launched at Interbike last fall, the much anticipated Timbuk2 Especial Collection of backpacks and panniers finally started shipping this month. For this new bike series, Timbuk2 worked hard to design a collection of bags that serious cyclists, such as bike couriers and hardcore bike commuters, would find useful.
The Especial Collection includes three different size backpacks, the Dos, Tres, and Cuatro, along with the Viaje Pannier. Each pack sports the backbender flexible cooling panel that conforms to the shape of your back when your ride for added comfort and ventilation.
Backpack straps are mounted on the top of each pack to better fit varying shoulder widths and to keep the pack high on your back for a better riding position. U-Lock holsters ensure you can lock up your bike when you get to work or run in to drop off a delivery. Timbuk2's signature swing around access enables you to quickly enter various pockets on the three packs.
The Especial Dos and Tres both have dedicated laptop compartments. An internal pocket in the Dos can accommodate a 13 inch laptop or hydration bladder, with hydration and headphone routing across the backpack straps. The Especial Tres features a waterproof laptop pocket that will fit your 15 inch MacBook Pro.
Much like the Timbuk2 Lex, the Especial Cuatro is all about unencumbered volume, big enough to carry a Copilot roller bag inside with room to spare. Multiple strap configurations make it easy to carry virtually any size or shape load.
For the bike commuters who may not want to wear a pack when riding, the Viaje Pannier can hold your 15 inch laptop and converts to a backpack once you arrive at work. A fast clip attachment system makes the pannier easy to get on and off your bike, while the included raincover will keep all your belongings dry during rainy commutes.
The Timbuk2 Especial Collection retails for $199-$229 and is available now.
