Outdoor Brands Fully Embrace Digital

Adidas Outdoor iPad App

To bring you closer to the day in the life of a sponsored athlete, as well as to the actual use of specific products, many outdoor brands are going full steam ahead with digital. Moving beyond the basic company blog and using the latest that technology has to offer, brands are now able to immerse you in the middle of the outdoor action.

Through a brand new iPad app available free of charge, Adidas brings you the latest issue of their outdoor magazine. Upon launching the app, a full multi-media experience envelops you with athlete videos, photo galleries, sound effects, and in depth feature articles.

The summer issue stories include Florian Wurm and Jakob Schweighofer climbing the classic Chimera Verticale in the Dolomites in a single day push, a video of Valery Rozov's base jump off the Petit Dru in Chamonix, and a great article on young women climbers. Stories are interspersed with detailed product information and 360 degree views of the current Adidas Outdoor line.

Black Diamond recently made available online their Alpinism catalogue for 2012. Centered around the outdoor mecca of Chamonix, athlete videos include Andy Houseman and Alex Chabot climbing The Shroud on the North Face of the Grandes Jorasses, as well as another fun video of Zoe Hart and Maxime Turgeon climbing M6 Solar. Overlaying a variety of breathtaking photos, Black Diamond highlights the gear necessary to attempt such an ascent.

Patagonia was one of the first to forge ahead online with the interactive Surf Catalog for Spring 2011. Podcasts, videos, stunning images, and full PDF articles litter the pages, all helping to tell the full Patagonia surf story.
