Sole and United By Blue have teamed up to create a shoe made entirely from natural, sustainable, recycled, and ethically sourced materials. The Jasper Wool Eco Chukka is a shoe that puts the environment first without compromising on performance, durability, style or comfort.
The Jasper Wool Eco Chukka is made from a combination of recycled cork, bison fiber, merino wool, rice rubber, algae foam, and bamboo. The shoes weigh under two pounds, and keep you feet comfortable all day thanks to SOLE’s signature supportive shape paired with barefoot-friendly materials.
The ReCORK Recycled Cork Midsole is made entirely from wine corks recycled by businesses and individuals around the USA and Canada. Producing it requires minimal processing, low energy input and less water consumption than synthetics, and extends the lifecycle of an already incredibly sustainable material.
The shoes are insulated with bison fiber, a discarded byproduct of the ranching industry, while the merino wool upper adds to the temperature-regulation and breathability, keeping your feet happy all day, indoors or out.
The outsole is made from a combination of natural rubber and rice husks for added durability and the laces are made from bamboo. Finally, a liner made from algae foam adds an extra level of cushioning.
The company is currently running a Kickstarter campaign to take pre-orders on the Jasper Wool Eco Chukka. For $105, you can get your own pair, with expected delivery in July. For every pair sold, United By Blue will remove one pound of trash from the world’s oceans and waterways.
United By Blue has currently raised over $275,000 and if they get to $300,000, they will offer a slip on version which looks to be the ultimate house or travel shoe.
