GoPro follows up their Jump virtual reality platform announcement with the launch of new camera on the entry-level end–the HERO+ LCD. Capturing high definition 1080p60 video and 8MP photos, the HERO+ LCD features a touch display for easy shot framing, settings control, and access to an all-new in-camera video trimming feature. Like the entry-level HERO, the HERO+ LCD is built directly into its waterproof housing for simplicity.
On the last day of March, the United States Patent and Trademark Office awarded GoPro a patent on a camera housing for a square profiled camera (US Patent Number 8,992,102 – filed January 2014). Whether or not this turns out to be a real product remains to be seen, as no word yet from GoPro even after tech website re/code recently approached the company on the subject.
