Online gear closeout site Departmentofgoods.com officially opens for business today. The latest (and fifth for the year!) online store from the
team is currently selling $58 million worth of heavily discounted outdoor, surf, skate, bike and mountain equipment from pinnacle brands such as North Face, Marmot and Oakley. With a varied and deep selection, you can expect the same online shopping experience you get from Backcountry.com including community reviews, Q&A and great customer service.
Much like the other members only sites, this gear closeout will be invite only during the beta launch. In order to access the site, you will need a VIP code. I have 15 for you great readers that I will be giving out in various Twitter contests. So be sure to follow @theGearcaster on Twitter to have a chance to win a Department of Goods gear closeout VIP code.
Once you're in, you will have access to all the deals across the site. During the beta launch of the gear closeout, Department of Goods will be giving away $200,000 in gear. A set number of first comers who place orders over $50 will be matched with a surprise gear prize. As if it couldn't get any better, one in ten purchases will be fully comped at random for a limited time- yes paid for entirely and not by you!
Backcountry.com plans for Departmentofgoods.com to eventually replace
The Company is hoping for a more inspired consumer shopping experience with this new gear closeout.
