New for Spring, Petzl has released their women's specific climbing helmet. Featuring Petzl's patented Omega headband system, the
Petzl Elia climbing helmet is now fully ponytail compatible. You no longer need to shove your hair through a small hole in the back of your helmet only to have it fall forward on your face as you climb.
The Petzl Elia is lightweight, coming in at only 10 ounces, and specifically sized for women with a 52-58 cm headband. With the new Omega headband system, Petzl did away with the roller adjustment mechanism that was always hard to reach inside of your helmet. The headband can now be adjusted by two lateral buttons on the outside of your helmet for precise and comfortable positioning on the fly.
In addition to the headband, both the chin strap and nape height are adjustable. The chin strap position adjusts forward or backward and the redesigned side-release chin strap buckle is positioned off to the side out of the way.
Ten side openings offer excellent ventilation for those hot days on the rock or glacier. A headlamp attachment with four optimally placed clips will keep your headlamp securely in place no matter the adventure.
The injection molded ABS shell with polystyrene liner is durable and offers advanced impact absorption. The inner foam pads that sit between the shell and liner are removable and washable. So after a big expedition or a hot weekend at the crag, simply peel out the foam pads and throw them in the washer.
I am so excited to see all this ponytail compatible gear coming out. My new favorite winter hat from Trail Heads is also ponytail compatible and will go perfectly with this helmet. Since I need a new mountaineering helmet, I guess I have no excuse but to buy one. All you cycling gear companies take note- let's see some real ponytail compatible cycling helmets next.
