Best know for their waterproof bicycle panniers, ORTLIEB is expanding out into various types of waterproof packs. ORTLIEB bags are characterized by their tightly sealed closure systems and the new backpacks and hip packs are no exception.
The ORTLIEB Hip-Pack2 comes in a 3 and 5 liter size, both with a roll closure. The breathable waist strap is angle and length adaptable so you can adjust it for the perfect fit. The waterpoof hip pack features a zippered outer pocket, 2 drink bottle holders, an inner removable valuables pocket, 2 reflectors and a bike light attachment.
The Downtown and Office-Bag waterproof bike briefcases come with the ORTLIEB QL3 mounting system. The main components of the bag mount are permanently fixed to the left or right of the bike rack, giving a clean, uncluttered back to the bag. The bike briefcases feature numerous inner organization pockets, shoulder strap, reflectors and optional laptop or netbook sleeves.
I am most excited about the Elevation 32 and Elevation 42 alpine backpacks. The waterproof alpine packs feature a twin strap lid closure, inner hydration pocket, base loops for trekking poles or ice tools, top helmet straps and numerous gear attachment points down the front of the pack.
The contact back system provides an air channel to wick away perspiration and hooks into the removable waist strap with numerous gear loops and a zippered pocket. You can add on pack accessories such as waterproof or mesh outer pockets, water bottle carrier and pads for reinforcing the compression straps.
The new ORTLIEB waterproof backpacks, hip packs and bike briefcases will be available for Spring 2011.
