Made from high-performance fabric but styled as an urban jacket, the Cubed Travel Jacket will quickly become your travel jacket of choice. Created by the makers of the Pick-Pocket Proof Pants, this waterproof shell offers more pockets than your average rain jacket.
The Cubed Travel Jacket is a 4-season jacket made from eVent DVStorm for complete weatherproofing coupled together with an innovative pocketing system to keep all your valuables safe as you see the sights. As it is built for more urban environments, the pockets on the Cubed Travel Jacket are not placed to stay out of the way of a harness or hipbelt, but instead geared towards storage space and practical accessibility.
Dubbed the Napoleon INT/EXT PKTS (Interior/Exterior accessible pockets), the two highly-placed chest pockets allow you to access essential items without ever undoing the main jacket zipper. A further 6 pockets mean you can bring everything you need for a day out on the town, including two hand pockets and four internal pockets with security clips for storing your passport, travel documents, and other valuables where they will remain safe from pick-pockets.
The adjustable hood can be removed from the fleece-lined and scarf friendly collar when the weather is nice, while both the waist and wrists can be cinched down agains the train with the waist cinch accessible through the hand pockets.
You can pre-order the Cubed Travel Jacket for $300 over on the Clothing Arts Kickstarter campaign. Delivery is expected in September.
And remember that even though the security pockets might save you from those pesky pick-pockets, consider only bringing “give-up money” in your wallet when you travel–a small or moderate amount you can throw to the ground if you’re mugged. You can also use it for small purchases without having to reveal your wallet and other valuables enclosed in the security pockets.
