Yakima Announces Rooftop Tent

Yakima Rooftop Tent

If there is one thing that is sure to make you the envy of all your Instagram followers, it’s a rooftop tent. To help you become an Insta-celebrity, Yakima created the new SkyRise series of rooftop tents. A natural extension to the Yakima product line, the tents are light (-ish), strong, and super easy to use.

Fully weatherproof, the SkyRise tent sets up in just minutes and easily makes any terrain an overnight home – from rocky ground to a festival venue parking lot. The tent body is made from certified fire-resistant Ripstop 210D nylon, which make the SkyRise up to 50 pounds lighter and resists condensation better than traditional canvas rooftop tents. A large mesh roof panel ventilates and lets you see the stars, and the weather-shedding 210D fly has a long wearing, waterproof PU coating.

A super cozy, 2.5-inch high-density foam mattress lines the bottom of the tent and features waterproof bottom in case water comes up from below. The spring steel rainfly poles are light and strong and super easy to push up or collapse down.

Yakima SkyRise

Unlike other rooftop tents, the SkyRise installs without tools and secures with Yakima’s SKS locking systems. The tent is also universally compatible with all crossbar types. Given that Yakima is the master of car racks, you can bet that their vehicle-specific fit data ensures the tents are on their safely and are super easy to use. When you are not camping, the SkyRise folds down into a low-profile unit that stays attached to the base rack while driving.

The SkyRise comes in two sizes, Medium ($1349, 90 pounds, fits 3 adults) and Small ($999, 75 pounds, fits 2 adults). Both rooftop tents will be available starting next spring.
