New Snacks I’m Digging Right Now

Untapped Raspberry Waffle

As I look after the food category for Backpacker, I get to try out a lot of snacks. You can see some of my favorites in the Spring Gear Guide, out now, but here are a few more that I’ve really been digging lately.

Untapped Raspberry Waffle: A berry explosion in your mouth. If you like raspberries, these are seriously good and a nice change from the typical waffle flavors out there. Each delicious treat contains 5 raspberries sweetened with maple syrup. UnTapped also came out with a new coffee flavor but these are by far my favorite.

Perfect Bar

Perfect Bar: If you like to snack on Justin’s nut butters you will love these bars — they are made from freshly ground peanut, almond or cashew butter, honey and organic superfoods. Each bar is loaded with up to 17 grams of protein, contains more than 20 superfoods like kale, spinach, alfalfa and celery, has zero GMOs or preservatives, and is 100% gluten-free. At around 330 calories per bar, they will power you on for quite some time. The only downside — you need to keep them refrigerated. Not a big deal if you eat them during a day hike, ride, or run, but not so great for backpacking. They come in a huge variety of flavors — I have been digging the two new spring flavors of Dark Chocolate Almond and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter.

Bobo's Oat Bars

Bobo’s Oat Bars: No, these aren’t new but they have been updated and I just love the home-baked oat bar taste. They come in a variety of flavors and each bar is big enough for two servings — meaning eat half one hour, then the other half the next. Two snacks in one! If you want to add some more protein, choose the nut butter flavors like Almond Butter and Peanut Butter.

Honey Stinger Waffle

Honey Stinger Gluten-Free Wildflower Honey: One of the new gluten-free waffle flavors, these are simple and not overly sweet.

I’d love to hear about some of your favorite outdoor snacks…
