Customize Your Own Giro Aether MIPS Helmet

Giro Custom

Yesterday, Giro announced a new custom helmet program call the Tuesday 25. Each week, a handful of lucky cyclists will be able to design the Aether MIPS helmet of their dreams.

So what is the Tuesday 25? Using an online design configurator, each week 25 cyclists will get to design and order their own unique colorways of the new Giro Aether MIPS. Nearly every aspect of the helmet can be customized — including the straps, fit system and buckles — from a palette of 15 color options including fades and graphic patterns, plus two reflective options.

No dawdling, however, as you need to be one of the first 25 to get your design submitted by midnight Pacific time on Tuesday each week or you are out of luck until the next week. Giro claims there are more than 805 million possible combinations, and on the website they show you a few already designed helmets to get your creative juices flowing.

In case you aren’t familiar with the Aether MIPS, it features a dual-density EPS foam liner with deep internal channeling to promote cool airflow. MIPS technology is integrated between the layers of foam for an added level of protection without impeding airflow through the massive vents. And Giro’s three-way fit tuning lets you dial in a custom fit to suit your head shape or personal preference.

The custom Aether MIPS bike helmets are available only in the US at moment and can be designed right on the Giro website. Prices start around $400 (not cheap!) and will be shipped within four to six weeks.
