For those of us that like to camp or backpack, we normally own a variety of tents to match the number in our party or the environment. Looking for a single system alternative, Cotopaxi created the Inti 2 shelter that adapts to your situation, whether you’re alone, with a friend, or camping with a party of four. Think of it as three unique tents in one.
The Inti 2 tent system consists of a two-person, standalone tent, its rainfly, and a snap-in Alcove that seamlessly integrates with the tent—doubling the sleeping and storage space. The tent itself is perfect for backpacking with a partner, while the Alcove is great for quick-and-light solo trips. The complete system provides shelter for a group of up to four people.
In Inti 2 canopy plus 20D weatherproof nylon rainfly together weigh 4 pounds 9 ounces. The canopy is made from a combination of 15D ultralight mesh/15D ripstop nylon with a 40D nylon bathtub floor, and uses a 3-pole setup. Design details include 2 doors and vestibules for gear, 4 mesh storage pockets, and a removable gear loft. You get 31.8-square-feet of floor space and a generous 45.3-inch peak height where even the tallest in your group will be able to sit up.
The single wall Alcove weighs 2 pounds 8 ounces and is made from a combination 20D weatherproof nylon with a 40D nylon floor. If used together with the Inti 2 tent, a single pole is needed, or if used on its own, two additional trekking poles to hold up the front.
Cotopaxi is taking pre-orders for the Inti 2 tent system over on Indiegogo and plans to ship product later this month already. The Inti 2 tent (canopy + rainfly) will eventually retail for $350 (pre-order price is $325 currently). Add on the Alcove for a total package price of $530.
