Küat Pivot Enables Your Hitch Rack to Swing

Kuat Pivot

Anyone with a 2-inch hitch rack can get set to make their lives so much easier. The Küat Pivot sits between your car hitch receiver and your bike rack, enabling you to swing it 90 degrees out of the way for easy access to the rear of your car.

Being able to tilt your hitch-mounted bike rack down is one thing, but having the ability to completely swing it out of the way takes it to another whole level. This means you no longer have to squeeze in behind the bikes or rack to gain access to all the gear in your trunk.

You can basically look at the Pivot as a swinging hitch extender– it hooks straight into your car’s hitch receiver and at the end of a rotating arm, sits another receiver to mount your bike rack.

The swing arm operates using a pull down latch and a threaded pin — the pin secures the arm in place near the rear of the car for when you are driving. To swing out the rack, pull down the latch and remove the threaded pin. Now the arm is free to swing.

The Pivot itself weighs 42 pounds and can support up to 250 pounds — that should cover a four bike hitch-mounted rack as well as all four bikes.

The Küat Pivot will start shipping this summer and retail for $298.

The guys at Bikerumor got a video of it in action at Sea Otter:
